What is an Orangery?...

Orangeries date back to the late 17th Century. The 2nd Earl of Chesterfield is believed to have built the first Orangery in this country at Bretby Hall in Derbyshire. They were used to cultivate and develop exotic fruits of the day. The buildings were a mixture of brick/stone and glass to the side elevations. The roof was flat with a glass atrium, usually located central to the roof parameter.

Nowadays using modern building methods and innovative design, Orangeries come in two forms; that of a contemporary or classical style. Design and product options are variable.
